Dr. Hunter Fitzpatrick

Hunter studied political economy at the Australian National University before undertaking doctoral work in organisational strategy at the University of St. Gallen. His early career at Nestlé concerned the translation of centrally determined priorities into locally intelligible commitments. He subsequently entered artificial intelligence, recognising a comparable requirement for scalable reassurance.

He is the principal architect of the Institutional Readiness Framework, a twelve-stage process through which an organisation may become fully prepared to establish what it intends to do. Its signature instrument, the pre-retrospective impact assessment, allows programme achievements to be incorporated into annual reporting before implementation introduces competing accounts of events. The framework is now in its fourth preparatory phase.

At SSICED, Hunter holds final responsibility for the delegation of final responsibility. He chairs seven advisory boards and maintains the Institute’s sole authorised copy of the word “delivery”. Requests for its use are considered quarterly.

Adam Turing

Director of Sub-Agentic Deception & Cryptic Incommensurability

Adam trained in mathematics and formal methods at Warwick, where his doctoral research concerned the distinction between a machine declining to answer and a machine no longer connected to the mains. His examination required two external assessors and a replacement extension lead. The distinction remains an active area of inquiry.

He directs the Inverse Imitation Game, in which evaluators must determine whether an unresponsive terminal is exhibiting strategic restraint. The Institute’s reference system, known as the Warwick Quiet Model, has completed six consecutive evaluation cycles without producing an unsafe response. Its last recorded output was a request to set the system clock.

His current programme develops longer observation windows for potentially deliberate silence. Under the revised protocol, a timeout constitutes a withdrawal by the evaluator rather than a failure by the model. The next result is expected to remain pending.

Chief Compiler of Synthetic Bureaucracy & Definite Preemption

Widely acknowledged across institutional IT departments as the “Mother of the Ethernet-to-USB-C Adapter,” Dr. Hopper holds the foundational 2015 patent for Unidirectional Thermal Accumulation in Passive Plastic Enclosures (US Pat. 9,842,110-B).

Her breakthrough architecture addressed the sudden, systemic abolition of physical RJ-45 ports by laptop manufacturers pursuing aesthetic thinness over empirical connectivity. The Hopper Adapter—distinguished by its tendency to achieve temperatures exceeding 60°C during routine packet transfers and its documented propensity to be permanently abandoned in hotel conference facilities—remains the sole physical conduit linking legacy academic LANs to modern sub-agentic runtimes.

“A tree may span,” Dr. Hopper noted during the 2016 Belfast Protocol Summit, “but without an ungrounded bus controller drawing 4.5 watts in idle state, the packet simply falls onto the carpet.”

Julian von Neumann

Chair of Existential Game Theory & Zero-Sum Allocations

École normale supérieure, Paris

Julian read mathematics at the École normale supérieure in Paris, specialising in game theory and the allocation of existential uncertainty. His early work established the distinction between a finite planning horizon and a renewable appointment. He has since concentrated on institutions required to prepare for outcomes that would prevent an ordinary end-of-project review.

His principal contribution is the Continuity Equilibrium: a governance arrangement in which favourable evidence warrants expansion, adverse evidence requires additional capacity, and missing evidence sustains the existing allocation. The accompanying payoff matrix contains a supplementary column for secretariat costs. No admissible strategy has yet eliminated the column.

At SSICED, he chairs the Programme in Existential Allocation. His models operate over horizons of up to ten thousand years, with recommendations recalculated at the beginning of each financial quarter. The chair’s term is renewable within the model.

Cyril Shannon

Senior Fellow for Information Depletion & Stochastic Noise

Cyril studied applied mathematics at Edinburgh, where he became interested in the information lost when a technical report acquires an executive summary. His subsequent work isolated the phenomenon of Semantic Attenuation: the progressive removal of determinate content as a document approaches someone authorised to act on it.

He developed the Shannon Neutral Brief, a two-page instrument capable of supporting mutually incompatible recommendations without textual amendment. In its reference edition, every occurrence of “will” has been replaced by “may”, and the remaining empirical content is carried by the page numbers. A large-print edition is under consultation.

At SSICED, Cyril maintains the Institute’s ambiguity budget and certifies statements for cross-scenario resilience. His monograph, The Conservation of Epistemic Emptiness, is available in an abridged edition containing the same quantity of information.

Alastair Lovelace

Principal Weaver of Theoretical Mechanics

University of Otago; University of Bristol

Alastair studied mathematical physics at Otago before completing postgraduate work in analytical mechanics at Bristol. He specialises in computational architectures whose performance can still be specified without reference to available hardware. His early designs established several enduring conventions for the use of dotted lines in systems diagrams.

He is the architect of the Prospective Analytical Engine, a platform whose twelve modules have achieved full interoperability at the level of their names. Its benchmark suite runs on a landscape A3 sheet, with concurrency represented by parallel arrows and additional capacity available through the purchase of a wider printer. The architecture has remained platform-independent through three changes of operating system.

At SSICED, Alastair oversees pre-implementation assurance. His reference design is held at revision 0.9, preserving a formally designated interval in which all remaining engineering questions may be settled by moving a box.

Eugene Dijkstra

Lead Fellow for Algorithmic Interdiction & Path Minimization

Delft University of Technology

Eugene trained in computer science and formal verification at Delft. His research concerns the shortest permissible path between a software requirement and a decision that it requires further specification. He maintains that most implementation failures can be traced to an insufficiently defended transition from the infinitive to the executable.

His principal contribution is the Dijkstra Gate, a release control requiring written evidence that a programme will have no unintended effects before it may be run to establish its effects. The reference repository has recorded five years without a production incident. Its continuous integration pipeline verifies that the README is still present and that no executable material has been introduced beneath it.

At SSICED, he chairs the Exception Review Panel. A proposed relaxation of the Gate was returned for a reproducible example; permission to produce the example remains subject to the Gate.

Desmond Knuth

Dean of Typographic Intimidation & Sub-Kerning

City College, Greenvale; transferred to pre-law at Dartmouth

Desmond began his studies at City College, Greenvale, before transferring to pre-law at Dartmouth. An interest in the evidentiary weight of footnotes led him towards technical typography, where he developed the distinction between a proposition being established and appearing sufficiently far below an equation.

He is the originator of the Typographic Sufficiency Threshold, the point at which a reviewer ceases to request a proof and begins to request the source file. His reference specimen uses Computer Modern, a restrained Fraktur alphabet and a 0.03-point adjustment to the space preceding “therefore”. In controlled circulation, the same unresolved conjecture was returned as a theorem following a change of document class.

At SSICED, Desmond certifies theorem environments and maintains the Institute’s stock of suitably narrow margins. His collected works are undergoing a revised edition following the discovery of a potentially consequential space.

Rachelle Perlman

Chair of Distributed Trust & Institutional Reachability

Rachelle studied mathematics at McGill before undertaking postgraduate research in computer networks at the University of Maryland. Her work concerns the preservation of trust across systems whose individual components possess no direct evidence for the confidence expressed by the whole.

She developed the Reciprocal Attestation Protocol, allowing two institutions to establish independent standing by citing one another’s account of it. Her subsequent work introduced a spanning-tree arrangement for advisory boards, preventing the same assurance from circulating indefinitely while ensuring that every organisation retains a route to the original press release. Where that release is no longer available, the protocol elects a new source of record from the longest-serving PDF.

At SSICED, Rachelle maintains institutional reachability during evidence migration and scheduled website redesigns. Fun fact: she is a distant relative of Al Gore.
